one of them, montana went from lean romney to strong romney. but that is really because we haven't had a poll in a long time in montana. it probably shifted to the strong romney category a number of months ago. we just had a recent poll and it was the first in many, many months. interestingly enough, iowa and new hampshire both moved from where they were to favorable to romney. did so by five points and they're based on polls from the last 30 days. >> bret: karl mentioned it's over the 30-day ample so it's important to point out some of the states may be leaning one way or another but you are basing it on polls that are still in there. >> that is the problem with a 30-day average. some of the states we don't have that many polls for. if you drop one out from a long time ago it looks like something shifted. there are other changing demographics, polls with the hispanics. obama is widening that out. starting to have, you can see a slight shift in nevada and colorado that look like they could be moving more to obam obama's category. again, better

the only thing i found really consistent with this is that romney has been essentially hating on half of the country for almost two years. i didn't necessarily find his comments out of line with everything else he has talked b. we've been characterizing them as gaffes. i've been trying to say this is who he really is. he really believes half the country is a bunch of moochers. i think what's really interesting, if you strip away all the areas, the urban areas that's predominantly minority, right? he still lost a whole bunch of white people, too. the man is refusing to take personal responsibility, which is the height of irony when you think about what he went around and talked about with 47% of the people not being personally responsible for their own lives. here he lost an election, mostly because of the fact that he was a bad option. the gop knows he was a bad option. that's why they fought him so hard during the primary, because he was a bad choice. but they ended up with him, they reluctantly had to get behind him. and what you're seeing now are the chickens coming home to roost.
